Blue Rivers provides access to original artwork, photography, and poetry as well as topical essays around art, culture, and the environment. Joshua Wait developed Blue Rivers in the Spring of 2003 to provide a space for sharing original content. In the days before social media, guests wrote many of the posts for the site. Josh created all of the paintings, illustrations, and photos currently on display.
Josh divides his time between his family and his artistic practice. He takes on artistic projects, photo shoots, or consulting work when time allows. He has taken photos for the Biodiversity Funders Group, Urban Mentors, ArcSource, and a number of individuals. He wrote his undergraduate thesis at UC Berkeley on the relationship between art and poetry in the New York School. After earning a Masters in Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, he worked as the director of the Trenton Youth Connection and then for the college scholarship program at the Bonner Foundation. After working as the Chief Technical Officer at ArcSource for a number of years, Josh served at the Biodiversity Funders Group as their Communications Specialist. His book of poetry, stories, and essays, Edible Thistles, will be published in the summer of 2023.
