I Ask Too Much of Myself
by Joshua Wait
I ask too much of myself
drink a river
with a bamboo straw
perform brain surgery
with a pencil and an eraser
travel the world
in a balsa wood canoe
reassemble a tree
from its scattered ashes
quell the riot
with a basket of muffins
I ask too much of myself
get out of bed
and face the day
Joshua Wait is a writer and an artist. He founded Blue Rivers to provide a space for poetry, art, and photography. This poem was published in Wishing To Be Human
