what is occupying you so intensely tonight

they wouldn’t sign you out

Pleasant but alarming like the smell of burnt popcorn

A woodpecker is hammering a tree

the Special was a bead of panic

crying out for infinite mercy

Poet within poet seduces me

I turned onto the wrong freeway today

Our first avalanche forbade us from dancing

you think we have time but we only have distance
